Vigneswara gayatri

Vigneswara gayatri

For each god form, there is a gayatri mantra. When the thread ceremony is done, the gayatri that is taught during the brahmaupadesam, is the mantra for primodal power inside the sun's light—called the savita. Gayatri is a mantra with 24 letters. In that count, all god forms have a mantra. These mantras will divide into 3 lines of 8 letters each. In each line, one of the many names of the concerned god will be mentioned. In the first line, one name is used to say, let us know this god. In the second line, another name is used to say, let us meditate on him. In the third line another name is used to say let this god leads us in the good direction. – the prayer comes in the mantra in this manner.

As in the mahanarayano Upanishad, among the gayatri mantras in vogue, only in the gayatris for the four gods – Siva, vigneswarar, subramaniar, and nandikeswarar, "tatpurusha" is used as the first name. However, there is an Upanishad in atharva Veda dedicated to vigneswarar, called "ganapath-atharvaseersham". In this there is a gayatri. This gayatri uses as the first name "ekadanta".
